Three people are dead and another was hospitalized after a small airplane crashed onto the Tri-Rail tracks near I-95 in Boca Raton on Friday, authorities said.

Around 10:20 a.m., a Cessna 310 carrying three people departed the Boca Raton Airport and was bound for Tallahassee International Airport before it crashed, the FAA said.

Michael LaSalle, the assistant chief of the Boca Raton Fire Department, confirmed that all three on board were killed. Meanwhile, another person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after possibly driving through the fireball from the crash.

Does anyone have a source for fatalities due to plane/helicopter crashes in the USA? I feel like there’s been a lot more since a couple months ago, not sure if it’s an actual thing or a feeling

I think the smaller aircraft crashes like this one, which weren’t uncommon before, are getting more visibility because of the high profile accidents at the beginning of the year - these stories are getting clicks so they’re getting spread further and by larger news outlets, so they’re getting more clicks…

I didn’t have numbers, but I’d be surprised if this year was looking significantly worse than last year.
