President Donald Trump said Thursday that he is naming Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, a former county prosecutor and elected judge, to be the top federal prosecutor for the nation’s capital after abandoning his first pick for the job.

Democrats need to start railing against all these DEI hires. None of these people would have been hired without it.

More great news, seriously. Every time HitlerPig replaces a knowledgable, competent person with a loyalist, the MAGA Nazis get weaker, and the Resistance grows stronger and more competent.

I searched her reason for not being a judge anymore. I used the G search engine. Nothing on the subject except that she was a fake judge on fox and her ratings dropped so they dropped her. Then as I scrolled down I had access to all the most relevant related questions… She has dogs.

So I don’t know much about the intricacies of American legal structures, is this a purely political role or is she actually going to have to act as a prosecutor?

It’s a real job. It’s a little weird because it’s actually for Washington, D.C., which is just a city, but a very important city that gets controlled by the federal government in a lot of ways.

Edit: To clarify, she wouldn’t be in court arguing cases, but will be making decisions and managing prosecutors.

Seems odd or even irresponsible to give a job like that to someone who’s been out of the game for so long. Normally you’d expect that if you don’t use your qualification in a relevant professional role for an extended period of time then you would have effectively lost those quals.

Oh it’s a complete joke. She’s not remotely qualified for the position, but Trump watches her on TV. Also her previous “judge” position was elected. She didn’t go through any kind of hearing or confirmation, just said political things that the voters liked.

She does have a law degree, but Wikipedia suggests it’s been 20 years since she’s used it in any kind of professional capacity. This whole merit based system seems to have the substance of wet toilet paper.

Every argument the Reich wing makes is just meant to be a cudgel. They don’t ever mean to follow what they say for themselves, they just use it as an attack on others.

A law degree and being elected DA for a random county in NY doesn’t make you qualified any more than managing a corner store qualifies you to be the CEO of Walmart. It’s not just the passage of time that makes her unqualified.

And yeah, they have a whole (racist lie) mantra about how hiring anyone who’s not white is denying society the benefit of a more qualified white man, but literally all their hires are not just temperamentally unsuited to the job, but unqualified and incompetent. You can’t select for absolute loyalty to a senile imbecile and also for merit. They can still be plenty evil, especially when no aspect of civil society seems to be willing to stop them, but if they were competent it would be so much worse.

So they’re going to try to arrest Democratic senators at the Capitol Building? Or would they need a DC judge to sign off for that?
