Like a president but good?

Feels like most trending tech these days. I’m so tired.

Yeah nah, not having kids. I do like kids, but I recognise my ability to withstand stress and sleep deprivation is pretty limited. My own parents did a number on me besides, and I’m not introducing a living thing into this world to perpetuate that trauma

Man, imagine what the GoFundMe would look like if that orange bastard suffered actual harm or something.

That is a very rational and detailed explanation of never stepping outside your experience for two seconds. That’s kinda rare to see, usually one defeats the other.
I keep it installed as a reminder of what was taken, that and animelab.

Oh absolutely, the strategy has always been to secure the market, make it difficult to leave the service, and jack up the profit. The only thing we can do is recognise it happening and work to make alternatives available, work on our own skillsets instead of relying on their tools.
Which is a shame, but the mask is off as of late, and we can’t do much about that.

I believe they get weird about local accounts on recent versions of 11, even ones that already existed. I’m not going to verify, but yeah I think the point is they’re moving towards them basically not existing.

Damn, kismet is a word I haven’t seen in a while

It’s a struggle sometimes, but I think it’s the only real control we have.
It’s a case by case basis for me. Some actor being in a movie I like isn’t a big deal to me, but when someone has like huge creative control over something it’s like a visceral repulsion to me. I don’t want to take a piece of media into my experience with the subtext that the author touches kids or something. It’s not even just that I know these people do bad things, it’s that personal views shape how people make stories etc, and I’m not fond of putting that into my psyche. If they do some fucked up shit in the book, I want to be able to know it’s because this character is evil, not because the author is saying this is a normal healthy thing to do.
RHCP sucks because I think it’s pretty good music, and I was really into them when I was a teen, but given everything I know about them now it makes it impossible to enjoy their stuff now.

I’m going off the top of my head here:
Okay so you know the concept of evaporative cooling for the new AI data centres? It’s hugely wasteful, and definitely not the only way to accomplish the goal, but it’s cheaper. I feel like if we actually figured out all the bullshit of that calibre and just outlawed it, we’d make a significant start towards improvement and only marginally impact the bank statements of a few ultra rich billionaires.
Stop allowing people to dump exhaust and waste untreated into the air and otherwise in the environment, full stop. Full illegal, if you violate it the entire company is dissolved. That’ll suck for shipping, manufacturing, fuck it. We need to actually stop this to achieve some kind of meaningful change. Go back to sails and windmills if we need to, we achieved global industry and shipping before the internal combustion engine existed, we can do it again.
Phase out fossil fuels. It’ll suck a bit, fuck it. Increase reliance on public transport and population density. Make it so you don’t need individual transport to accomplish basic necessities for the vast majority of people.
Ramp up public collaborative research into batteries, power storage, carbon capture, climate science. At this point we’re playing catch up, we need everything we can to try to rectify this shit storm like yesterday.

I know, it just bothers me how little they’re trying to hide it.

Why are the kids technologically illiterate and undersexed until it comes to matters of government control? I’m not usually into tin foil hats, but this doesn’t feel like the kids are the primary concern here.

God I had coworkers that had never used a vr headset claiming the metaverse was going to be the next big thing. I wish common sense was common.

Oh god I just figured it out.
It was never they are good at their tasks, faster, or more money efficient.
They are just confident to stupid people.
Christ, it’s exactly the same failing upwards that produced the c suite. They’ve just automated the process.
My tortie loves me too much. She won’t leave me alone when I’m trying to concentrate, always demanding pets. She’ll scratch at doors if she’s closed out.
She also closes doors on herself, trapping her in the room. You’d think she should learn but somehow she keeps doing it.
Sort of. I understand not wanting to deal with the difficulties of attempting ethical consumption, but you’re so much closer to being one of those people working in a sweatshop than you are being financially stable. It feels like you’re actively shooting yourself in the foot honestly.

I feel this, my frustration isn’t that people aren’t smart enough to use tech, but that smart people panic around tech and can’t learn or experiment. Like I get it, but you have to dive in at some point surely
Hey so question, how come we have to push so hard for a child porn machine to be called a child porn machine?
