I pay for Amazon Prime and Sky Showtime (I think it’s the continental European version of Paramount+ and Peacock combined). I pay for the first one because of the shipping and I’m still thinking of canceling it; the second one because they haven’t said anything about sharing an account yet, and doing so is frankly cheap.

No, psychological horror is based on psychological damage, not physical harm: domination, psychological trauma, diffuse fears like the unknown or the indefinable, things like doubting reality and one’s own sanity.
There are movies and games that deal with it, but never as well as a first-person narrator who puts a partial vision into writing, that’s why Stephen King hates the adaptation of The Shining; it doesn’t capture this at all.
I was thinking of some Stephen King story (It, to be specific, which I think is his most Lovecraftian work) but I agree with you 100%, the charm of Cthulhu is largely the vagueness of its description, any drawing you see out there is ridiculous compared to what the novels do
okay, that’s not very shooter, but it’s still 100% body horror and gore, nothing even remotely close to psychological horror
I haven’t played Dead Space but from what I read about the plot, a shooter with aliens, I don’t think it fits the type of horror I’m talking about.
You may be right about classic horror and jump scares, but I think psychological horror needs more space and introspection, and that fits better with literature. That’s my opinion, of course.
I think you can block the entire instance, not community by community or user by user.
You can block it for yourself if that works for you. You don’t have to limit other people’s options.

Again, I’m European so I can’t be sure about this, but I think some of those issues are worse because of the scale, not the thing itself. The entire healthcare system is private—if all prisons were too, I think that would be much worse than the healthcare situation.
As for politicians, up until this election cycle, they at least had the decency to pretend. From now on, we’ll see what happens.
In the Southeast of America a judge was fairly recently convicted of sending underage boys to a private prison in exchange for kickbacks from that prison. He had been doing it for over a decade. And that’s just one that made the news.
It is obvious that something like this would happen. You cannot create a system with perverse incentives and expect the good faith of those who participate to keep it clean. It is exactly the opposite of the spirit of the American revolution (and the rest of democratic revolutions)
As a European, I wonder what kind of dystopia the concept of a “private prison” fits into. I don’t understand how anyone could have imagined that this would end well.
