You know who else likes anti-material rifles?
Not useful against modern armoured vehicles but they’ll still fuck up a motor block plenty. Or something like a transformer, radio equipment, any, well, materiel, as long as it’s not hardened.
Also useful to one-shot Deathclaws. Shot to the face, either armour piercing or explosive don’t remember, definitely the best way to deal with those buggers in FO:NV.

Small nitpick, but it’s actually spelled “materiel” when referring to military equipment. It’s based on the French word. The rifle is an anti-materiel gun, meant to penetrate non-hardened military materiel.
As in food and other supplies on a relatively soft target like a convoy. Didn’t stop my high school classmates from twisting “they shoot at vehicles with it” to “they shoot out engines with it”
I mean a 12.7 in the engine is still going to ruin the performance.
