For the record I don’t believe any of it is real although I wish ghosts etc were since I have a major interest in the paranormal

    Because people believe stuff they want to believe regardless of evidence. The same goes for religion, politics, conspiracy theories, UFOs, homeopathy, astrology, and various other assorted nonsense.
