Summary
Trump recently shared a provocative column on Truth Social titled “Shut Up About Egg Prices — Trump Is Saving Consumers Millions,” written by conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
This comes despite Trump’s campaign promises to reduce grocery costs “immediately” and “on Day 1.” Egg prices have soared to record highs, averaging $4.95/dozen in January and exceeding $10/dozen in some regions, leading to purchase limits and shortages.
While bird flu has significantly impacted prices by killing millions of chickens since 2022, Trump has shifted from his campaign stance, recently telling Fox News “Inflation is back” but claiming “I had nothing to do with it” after just weeks in office.
There’s always one in every thread about this…you cannot expect 300-something million people to suddenly be able to adopt your special snowflake diet. It’s cool that you have. And some may be able to switch. But this is not a viable solution at this time for the majority of the population.
And there’s always the entitled dietcrat in every thread of life. I was just trying to help anyone who might be interested in paying less for something that can be a little like an egg AND have some more health benefits. Guess it is pretty hard to look up information online on how to make substitutions in a diet and gosh darn do stores make it almost impossible to find the necessary ingredients, tucked away in the produce department. But you do you and enjoy paying your higher prices and then whinging about it when you could be doing something else.
For what it’s worth, I agree with you. I don’t consume meat, but I do eat products containing eggs. It just blows my mind that eggs are so important to people. If I could never eat eggs again, it would be akin to someone telling me “You can never use Tide detergent now. You have to use Gain.” Oh well, whatever. There are 1000 different options. The fact that this one particular dietary item is so important to people is just strange to me.
