If its not more blatant ways to display ads or AI Google isn’t working on anything it would seem.
Great! I’ll use Button Mapper to remap that button to open Plex (or Jellyfin if I end up committing to switching to it).
All of my service buttons are mapped to Stremio
My TV already has a free TV button, it’s the on button.
I have a Hisense and there isn’t actually a button to view TV off the antenna. It takes about 5 button presses to get there. Absolutely cooked.
This Google Free TV thing is not TV by definition.
I didn’t mean from the antenna me hartie 🏴☠️
*press free tv button
*tv falls off the wall mount
:o
Tv has a sock!
“Free TV” means “TV paid for with your time and attention.”
Know what else pays you for your time and attention? Your job. We can quibble about how hard work it is to watch ads, but that is what’s happening: you’re just working, bartering and using up irreplaceable portions of your life with inevitable unavoidable ads, when you use these free TV services.
You underestimate my ability to not pay attention when I get
A BIRD!!! LOOK!!! A BIRD IS OUTSIDE ON THE TREE BRANCH!!!
…what we talking about?
The great taste of Ovaltine, of course!
If its not more blatant ways to display ads…
is it more blatant than television has ever been? Like it or not, lots of people want free shit even if it’s injected with ads.
And we’re back to what TV used to be, millions of ad-supported channels no one cares about except people who just want background noise. Time really is a flat circle.
To be fair that would help out a ton for the less technical users that aren’t too familiar with needing to browse and click through a ton of different menus just to get to something they can watch for free. This kind of stuff gets challenging for the older non-computing crowd.
And honestly if these remotes are going to have a default “Netflix”, etc. button they may as well have a button for the default Google free channels.
This is a rebranding of Google Play Movies, or TV or whatever they call it.
