ppl in those comments still delusional they can avoid a ban (not anymore lol, in the past sure), I changed ips, used vpn, different browser, different os back when I was desperate they still kept rebanning me within a post. Used fresh emails and everything. Im sure I can goto a friends house and use their device but whats the point if the second I login at home on any device I get rebanned. The few communities I liked arent worth that much effort, I just use their discord equivalents now and spend more time making/doing stuff instead of observing others.

Yeha it sucks for sure, but youll be fine, for me I had hella niches like comicbooks, blender, vfx/houdini, indiedev that kept me interested and I def miss that, I dont really enjoy just viewing it half the fun was commenting and asking how ppl did stuff. Now I mostly use Yt, tiktok, Ig, and bluesky (not a fan but finding ppl to follow was easier than mastodon/sharkey) for those niches. I hope those communities grow here, only thing I used reddit for was that and wordpress drama.

Selfhosting/linux info is solid here so I was still able to discuss and learn about that niche even losing reddit.

I also miss the edm/rave communities, but they were going downhill, kinda peaked 2-3 years ago imo.

Oh forgot tvshow speciifc communities, I dont miss them, I dony like other ppls opinions when it comes to the shows I like apparently, I feel better not arguing.

I said one thing bad about trump saying more h1b visas (they are bad for americans (harder for us to get jobs that give experience) and they dont contribute to the economy they actively take money out and send it home, its not the best or the brightest like they claim) Then temp banned for 3 days, and after that banned once a week for a few days til like 2 months later I got banned. The worst ban was abusing reports, I reported some fd up shit like ppl planning group suicides, doubt they even looked or cared, just banned me for reporting and increased it for complaining.

We do? Some ppl dont, we have sugarcane, oranges, lemons, eggplants, peppers, and I forget the rest, my dad/grandpa are more into gardening. Its just not realistic to do a lot, cheaper and a lot faster to go the grocery storec more variety, hoemgrown stuff is ususlly more of an addon.

I enjoy learning vfx through houdini, id be doing it still if it wasnt so annoying to get on linux (im not paying for it, that 260$ a year cost is for me ppl making money and id do it if I was)

Blender is hella fun, like the ultimate sandbox game, cities skylines with no constraints (except much harder) I think with more and more addons it’ll be the perfect sandbox creative city builder. Like procedural roads, cities, procedural terrain, buildings, etc. When the laxk of freedom in those games dissapoint you just make animations, the end goal in some of these games like planet coaster is to have something cool to look at and modify freely, the economy means nothing, might as well make it in blender.

You can try the sanctus demo yourself and see if it works for you on Blender running on Linux. Alt tab easy fog 2 says win/mac and a reviewer had issues running it on linux, i tried another material addon, the materials work but previews in its ui are broken.

Wonder if I’m missing a dependency, no idea how to check, seems odd that the material itself wouldn’t work on linux
