Even 5 minutes seems short. You’re already dead, what’s the rush?

Doesn’t mbin federate with Mastodon? I’ve been thinking about moving to an mbin server for that reason…
What do you mean by “inorganic intelligence,” exactly? Do you think openai has already achieved it?
That’s not what I meant when I said the public knows.
You don’t know about gait analysis. A quick search would show you its not “squirrel shit.” Lots of research papers are available from the past 10+ years about using it for surveillance, and there’s even a wiki page.
He’s not saying they used gait recognition, he’s saying they probably used something high-tech that no one has heard of. The public has know about gait analysis, voice analysis, handwriting analysis, etc for a long time.
Oh, I’m not sure what you meant in your first comment then?
He can’t become a Saint until after he dies, unfortunately.
The “illegally trained LLMs” they’re taking about are trained on copyrighted data that they didn’t have permission to use, this isn’t about LLMs that have been trained to do illegal things. OpenAI (chatgpt) is being sued because there is a lot of evidence that they used copyrighted content for training, like NY Times articles. OpenAI is so profitable that they’ll probably see these lawsuits as a business expense and keep doing it. Most people won’t sue anyway…
That has some truth for career/professional skills, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with having a lot of hobbies. Most people won’t achieve “true greatness” (whatever that means) in their hobbies whether they have one or hundreds, so why not just focus on doing what you enjoy?
As long as they keep their standard of living the same as before they retired, a lot of them can ignore prices. Doesn’t mean they’re buying a new car every month…
If you can’t afford a yacht on $250k/year (after tax) then you need help budgeting, or it’s just not a priority. You might not be able to afford multiple houses AND a yacht, but a normal house and a yacht should be possible. Or your could replace the yacht with a couple lambos…
And look at how many politicians and businesses have gone back on their promises in the past decade.
I don’t think qualified immunity affects civil suits like wrongful death. AFAIK it only covers criminal charges like murder.
One bullet said “depose,” not “delay.”

One way to tell is that people don’t get denied medical care because they don’t have insurance, they get denied care because the hospital doesn’t think they’ll be able to pay. It doesn’t matter to the hospital if the money comes from insurance or out of the patients pocket. Unlike most patients, this guy can afford 7 figure medical bills.
No, increasing the value of your home is one way to get out of PMI payments. And it also helps if you get a reverse mortgage.
Not to mention how much he must have spent on his lawsuit. It’s an embodiment of the sunk cost fallacy.
