I went to a Radio Shack a few years back. They still exist as well

1·6 days agoThe first time I used Claude, I asked for a simple one page calculator. It made an entire website, complete with navigation and an about us page, and a css style sheet.

Technology@lemmy.world•Can workers compete with machines and stay relevant in the AI era?English
3·8 days agoAt my current job, I use AI frequently.
But it’s nowhere near replacing me. It’s like having a 12 year old intern that’s an inexperienced genius.
It’s great for saving me 10 minutes to write out some simple HTML or structured data. But it’s definitely not perfect and tends to add unnecessary changes, I constantly have to review and add new rules.
So I don’t think it’s replacing any humans any time soon, but it has gotten exponentially better over just a few months. So maybe in a few years, I’ll start to worry.

1·22 days agoThis would always happen right at the start of a long motorcycle ride. Suddenly the music stops and all I can hear is the engine. 30 minutes later and stop and investigate and it’s a pop up warning that the audio level is too loud.

I saw this on YT, I don’t remember any artifacts or the channel. Iirc, these 2 guys killed a homeless man while living at some homeless shelter or something. I assumed it was real, because why make up something so mundane.

Oh dang. You’d still die from old age.
I’m 10 hours younger (5 seconds later) , I’m 19 hours 59 minutes and 55 seconds younger, rinse and repeat until you reach your desired age. Immortality?

121·6 months agoI’m pretty sure that writing something down has been proven to be helpful for retaining the information.
But that study is probably 50 years old, and people learn and retain information differently.
So I wouldn’t be surprised if using a computer to take notes is just as effective as writing it, especially for younger generations.
