Compared to reddit, yeah, kinda. On reddit it often feels like it’s not worth it commenting on a post if it’s popular and 14+ hours old. On Lemmy I will see new comments with the default sorting of comments.

There’s just something off about watching shorts and tiktok, if I use it for too long it feels like my head is going to explode. There’s some great content there for things I’m interested in, like quick tips for software that I use, but if I watch 5 of those in a row I’m not going to remember anything. All in all I think the format, and regular youtube, would work a lot better if they didn’t push so hard to get me to just sit there for hours on end.
And to think I don’t even feel safe about buying something as innocent as a smart TV…
I don’t understand what the hell Google is doing. About 10 years ago I wanted to switch to DDG for privacy reasons but didn’t because I preferred the search results I got from Google - I switched to DDG last week to get better results. And it’s not just the main Google search, YouTube too has become terrible. I have a specific niche on youtube that I want to monitor and I’m struggling to use search to find relevant videos and the main page only want to recommend me 10-20 minute long videos of people talking about something. Appearently having all the data in the world isn’t enough to give me relevant results or recommendations.
I might make the switch, but what I really want is for Microsoft to get their shit together.
I really don’t need a subscription service to give me access to even more games that I’ll just launch and play for about 20 minutes before I go back to playing battlefield 4
