If the people like someone and think they should continue their work, they should be allowed to do so. [EDIT:] And if China did have term limits… what would it change? Xi ends his terms and then what? Someone else will simply step up.

Power is a metaphysical force, like a trinket in video games corrupting you, once you take hold of it, it takes hold of you. Changing your mind, forcing you to increase it, to expand power. Many fight it, but so long as you grasp it, it will act upon you. This is why term limits are not just good, they’re necessary to prevent people from going fully mad.

This code exists, but is unused to my knowledge. Certainly for Piefed.social.

I hope that piefed will publish the blocked phrases in the api at some point, like lemmy publishes the slur regex in /site. (This isn’t trying to be “look lemmy is better,” I mean this)
No. I can reply to my piefed.social account with the piefed.zip account it has blocked.
So in the context of blocking, if someone blocks you on piefed - you simply can’t reply to them anymore
And maybe it wouldn’t be a problem if we weren’t for federation. The result is a desync, where either all but the instance with the blocker can see the comment, or only the blocked users instance can see the comment.
I did a code review just about a week ago, see https://hexbear.net/comment/6827649 for what I found.
It would require blocks to be federated, as it is now that doesn’t happen, so even if you snapped your fingers and every instance was a piefed one, it wouldn’t stop people from replying to blockers.
It is not undemocratic to ensure the rights of the people.
And I do not want the enslavement of people.
