Lol definitely won’t, they’re super anti-EV after all. I mean, they even want to get rid of all wind power plants. xD

If they screw shit up too much there are already the nerdiest of nerds working on decentralized wireless networks. They’d be slow is heck, but I heard many people prefer web 1.0 over todays’ bloated crap anyway.
Europe won’t do a thing with these initiatives, at least not in any official manner (what they can do though is to ensure EU web hosters of this stuff aren’t feeling the pressure). They’ve enough to do restructuring their economy and military, all the while also dealing with war and fascism from the east. They won’t risk Trump having another tamper tantrum, at least not before the EU and its allies are widely decoupled from the US economy.
I wonder what they used for that. Perhaps Ardour.
Dude, you do realize I didn’t endorse centralized moderation with a single word, let alone social algorithms or any of the other trash? I’m just not ignorant enough to believe the internet wouldn’t become an utter pile of trash without any kind of moderation of oversight, especially with such an abundance of ways to spread nonsense fully automatically. Want to get a glimpse of how that would look like? Look at Nostr. Given you’re literally starting off with ad hominem any discussion with you is pointless anyway though.
The only control is the ruling class over the working class. I don’t think that’s a great achievement.
That’s a result of systems like capitalism, not democracy in itself. 🙄 Read up a little about the concept of democracy (and what isn’t part of it) and come back to the discussion.
A perfect breeding ground for growing localized power structures that aren’t bound to anything holding them back. A power vacuum will always fill itself. To gain control over it as a society (i.e. democracy) is one of the greatest achievements of mankind. We have to keep improving it (by reforming how economical powers can or can not exercise power or grow), not moving to something that’s so obviously disregarding how power structures form and behave in human societies.
Yep, elitism is a huge problem. It’s usually the best for newcomers to refer them to only certain subsections of the wider community (for example Linux Mint forums) who you know to be very friendly and humane. Many other places are a cesspit, and don’t you dare criticize something technical. You’ll get at least 30% answers trying to shut you up.
<rant> In terms of the wider Fediverse, people seem unable to understand how many people won’t even know you can use third-party software with certain services so not finding a native, official “Lemmy” app in the app store is a dealbreaker for them. Hell, our digital education and modern mobile devices are so bad & manipulative at times people don’t even know that “gmail” and “email” are the same… but of course that’ll be blamed on literally everyone else. Can’t be that that FOSS Bros are out of touch or something. Contributing to a social & economical solution is hard, let’s go back to our code cave. </rant>
Many FOSS nerds don’t even understand the necessity of a user-friendly GUI…
You clearly never were the victim back in those days. Neither do you realize this approach doesn’t work on the modern web even in the slightest, unless you want the basics of both enlightenment and therefore science and democracy crumbling down even faster.
Anarchism is never an answer, it’s usually willful ignorance about there being any problems.
You know, they didn’t have to make a product with this specific chip. They did it anyway despite it being inherently incompatible with their former goals. And this is not about us customers, this is about Framework abandoning what they stood for and losing credibility in the process.
Then don’t make it work like that. Desktop PCs are modular and Framework made a worse product in terms of modularity and repairability, the main sales of Framework. Just, like… wtf. This Framework product is cursed and shouldn’t exist.

The website indeed seems to put the prices unfavorably high. Checked for Germany, the “normal area” talks about apartment prices as high as those in cities like Hamburg (which is expensive). They may expect expats to attempt living in those areas more often.
Now if we could just get rid of all those power-hungry dicks who keep poisoning the human spirit, let it be with Capitalism, Maoism, Neoliberalism and whatnot…
Thing is, the concern about RedNote is completely valid. Even if you strip away any overarching US propaganda or whatever, we know that the CCP does really, really shitty things as well and take heavy, manipulative influence (yes yes, the US and its defacto Feudal Lords owning Meta etc. do so too).
I’m just angry people won’t take their time to look into this whole topic and go with more propaganda-resistant, federated alternatives. Not perfect, but better than a centralized service that can be influenced by either China or the US. Or Russia… or literally anyone. So that we can, in the end, just dance to some nice human music.
Like every time a country conducts genocide people close their eyes and don’t want to admit that, facing such crimes against humanity, every single Israeli has the duty to do whatever they can to stop their government. No matter if its a Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Jinping, Putin or Netanyahu (or some political conglomerate), and no matter where the injustice and moral corruption began or what once was, the people have to stand up against a corrupt system at that point. Of they don’t they are indeed complicit, every single time.
Of course they would. And communist regimes literally did consolidate into dictatorships on their own from the very beginning. At the end communism is inherently authoritarian, which is the core problem.
The current downfall of capitalism could likewise be blamed on Russian influence to make it look less awful, which is likewise documented. While it holds truth it still is a really bad argument.
The greater the income disparity, the stronger authoritarianism becomes, the more fascistic it becomes. It’s always the same, which is why it has to be held in check, something the USA outspokenly do not want to do. Communism, Maoism, Xiism etc. are just taking a shorter route to authoritarianism.
I keep wondering how much of his behaviour has to do with his estranged kids telling him he’s a dick as well as his Ketamine abuse.
