  • Looking forward to the community visibility feature.

There are bots on Lemmy that duplicate posts from sources like Reddit. They usually post into special locked communities on dedicated instances (such as lemmit.online). Most instances have banned these bots to avoid flooding the local feed with high-volume bot reposts. And this makes perfect sense.

But with the ability to unlist a community, we probably won’t need to ban such bots and can instead ask their authors to unlist those automated communities. This way, people who want to occasionally read posts from niche Reddit communities can still access them without hurting proper Lemmy growth.

Secondly you’ve not provided any proof that Zelensky is a “gangster”

I think Cowbee said “Kiev is a gangster state with immense corruption” which is a bit different.

For almost 2 years, people have been violently kidnapped from the streets, thanks to this totally non-gangster state, after they loosened the laws (which Zelensky signed, BTW). For example, here (violence warning!) is a yesterday video from Odessa. And we get video like this every day. It’s like ICE in US, but much worse because people can’t protest against it due to ongoing war.

And recently we had a ton of corruption scandals tied to Zelensky’s inner circle. You can just scroll below, someone already linked.

  • I think what the commenter above is trying to say is that they are getting tired of seeing Lemmy users pointing fingers at each other. Most of us are clearly passionate about FOSS and hate capitalism. Otherwise, why would we have joined Lemmy?

All these “tankies” and “libs” have lost all meaning. Many times, I’ve seen people simply make up shit from both sides about what libs/tankies think, and then just make fun of it. It’s not productive.

I’m not talking about you. I think your replies are very reasonable. But I think I can relate to the commenter’s feelings.

how do you change its settings, like the aspect ratio, the dimming or the distance?

They have an OSD like in a regular monitor. You press the mode switch button twice to bring it and navigate using the ± brigness buttons. For dimming you hold the brightness rocker to start adjusting the dimming. For everything else there is an OSD menu like in a regular monitor. You bring it by double pressing the switch button and navigate with the brightness buttons.

how does it know where is forward in anchor mode? if you are sitting in a vehicle that is turning, can you keep it using as if nothing has happened?

It’s only 3 DoF without the eye add-on, so when you move, the monitor moves with you.

how do you do chores with it? I mean, what do you connect it to, and where do you place it so that it’s not in the way?

I just connect it to my Retroid Pocket Flip and put it into my pocket. Then I just enable side mode in the glasses, so it displays the image in the corner. And use my 8BitDo to navigate in the device.

what do you do to not get tangled in the cable, and to not get stuck on something?

The default cable is just very short :) It’s a distance from the glasses to my pocket with about extra 15-20 cm.

  • I’m curious how public ownership is managed. Do they also have people in charge, but they can be elected? And what motivates their decisions?

From what I understand, with private ownership there are directors who make decisions based on profit motives. Which doesn’t always align with what consumers want. Which is bad, of course.
