Wikipedia is wonderful… for most things.

The main demographic contributing to and editing English Wikipedia are young, highly educated white men from western countries. It will portray on average the bias that most of these people espouse. So it will have racist bias, misogynistic bias and pro-western bias.

That said, it’s still probably less misogynistic and less racist and less pro-western than your average outlet, because it filters out some of the most blatant false narratives and propaganda from conservative sources such as FOX.

USians don’t need to pay for tax increases to pay for public healthcare, USians already pay exceedingly expensive healthcare. Government expenditure doesn’t come from taxes, the federal reserve can literally create money at will at a keystroke. Expropriation of the existing hospitals and clinics by the state would already make healthcare much cheaper than it is, because right now the wealth is siphoned off to rich people and corporations.

The issue is that democrats would rather lose elections than make healthcare affordable. It’s not bad strategy, it’s the logical consequence of their interests

For reference (I’m a Spaniard so maybe this isn’t representative): by far the most famous explicitly leftist band of the past 10 years is La Raíz, and one of their most famous songs, “Jilgueros”, on the lyrics explicitly talks about “que apunte al cielo quien quiera ser cazador de buitres”, (point up to the sky whoever wants to be a hunter of vultures, vultures being capitalist owners and a reference to the so-called “Fondos Buitre” or Vulture Investment Funds in Spain).

It might be my biased sample from the people I interact with IRL (I live in Spain) and on the internet, but out of all self-declared leftists and progressives, a vast majority support Luigi and use slogans like “eat the rich” while repelling any repression from Actually Existing Socialist states.

China has massively boosted the living conditions of workers since the 1980s-1990s. The accusations of sweatshops 40 years ago made sense, but in 2025 they’re absurd, especially seeing the vast improvement in life quality in China compared to other countries which 100 years ago were in an identical condition, such as India or Bangladesh.
