French does pronounce most of the letters, they just tend to drop the last one. Then there’s our “though” which is often shortened to “tho” with no consequence. English is not creative, either, most of the time the words were actually pronounced in a way that matches and time changed how we spoke them. That and we just kinda lifted the spelling of loan words but said them differently because whichever of our many accents at the time made it otherwise uncomfortable to say.

I think the worst part of these high salaries is that at a certain amount of money you start paying off even big stuff pretty quickly. Working class people are so used to the idea that they will always have a rent payment or will, as far as it matters, always have a mortgage payment and/or car payment floating around. The ultra wealthy pay all that shit off right away and then continue having these sky-high yearly incomes.

I remember reading that, in at least one case, collecting them is difficult to the point where ports aren’t bothering. And that’s difficult on the admin side, they’re just so insane about it that the relevant authorities aren’t even really sure what’s going on or how to deal with it.

Cops routinely prove to be awful drivers and terrible shots yet they will go for daytime high-speed chases and shootouts in crowded areas far too often. It’s worse than that as a lot of their “training” is designed to make them feel like they’re warriors in constant danger. They are too stupid to ignore it and it’s all they get since training and the funding for it is so awful and unregulated.
