There’s a part of a highway near Denver where it’ll tell you to take a “slight right to stay on highway”, and there is literally no possible turn or off ramp there.

Isn’t that the status quo? I guess it’s not really fathers to daughters, but most women I know went through some amount of “here’s how to be a good wife” lessons from their mothers or family. I think women get a lot of “traditional gender roles” training that’s mostly about being caretakers.
Usually people putting forth this kinda “women should learn how to care for their man” attitude are coming from a conservative “traditional family values” position.
Really, we should be teaching people how to ask about and learn the needs of their partner, and how to determine your own needs and communicate those to your partner. Basic emotional intelligence stuff. It doesn’t have to be gendered at all.
This is a really common experience for a ton of VR gamers. The thing I remember the most is how white text on a black background (usually my phone) made it seem like the text was really 3D and coming out at me. It fades away but I’m sure we’re going to find out some interesting things about the brain from this phenomenon.
Honestly, and what a good episode!
Thank you for reminding me of that song and giving me a reason to think more deeply about it. It already was a gorgeous moment in the show but I didn’t dig into it too deeply until your comment. The “looking at your thoughts without judgement” part is the hardest part for me.
Do you wash only a single fitted sheet or duvet cover at a time? Because the problem still happens when I wash my fitted sheet and normal sheets in the same load.
Just out of curiosity, would you feel the same way when people say “fuck Russia”, or would you understand that they’re saying “fuck the Russian government/Putin” and not “all Russians are monsters”?
I mean, the old UI wasn’t great. All they did was separate servers and DMs. I hated it at first too, until I learned the differences, and it’s honestly fine.
People seem mad at Discord for how their users use it. Yeah it sucks as a knowledge base since you can’t search it from a search engine, but it’s still easily the best tool for small, privateish communities.
Finally played this last month after buying it on sale 2 years ago. I felt stupid that I waited so long. It’s easily the most well written game in existence. I’ve never had a game make me laugh and think this much.
Pretty sure Cuno straight up says he does drugs.
It’s not really controversial. Cringe is used to full effect in The Office, and it’s absolutely something that a lot of people don’t enjoy.
I love The Office, and I do think that once you know the characters, the cringe gets less intense, but it just isn’t going to jive with everyone.
Well you didn’t mention The Good Place, but from your username I assume you’ve watched it :) .
Ted Lasso is really great throughout and has a really positive viewpoint while still dealing with tough subjects.
Starstruck (you’ll recognize Rose Matefeo) is a great lightish comedy.
Crazy ex girlfriend

For animated stuff, these are all top-tier:

Wow we might be the same person, except I haven’t watched Black-ish or Black Books. I’ll have to look into those.
But if we raised the bottom up enough, it wouldn’t really matter if they were on the bottom. Many people would be happy if they had a stable place to live, food, healthcare, and freedom, and many don’t really need or even want “more” all the time. The problem is the vast differences in wealth and ownership.
It’s not that data is subjective, it’s that the interpretation of that data can be subjective, and the raw data can be misleading.
Way less people want this than this comment implies.. 73% of Americans support abortion early, and it gets a little foggier the further you go.
Republicans just have rigged things so that it requires much more effort to defeat their bullshit.
So while I generally agree with your sentiment, there are some obvious ways that sometime could be an ethical landlord.
What if you have a house that’s too big, so you convert a floor into an apartment? You’re adding to the number of housing units available. Should you be forced to sell a portion of your house/building to whoever wants to live there? Or should you be able to rent it out to someone at a reasonable rate? Do we want rules that discourage people from potentially adding units to the market?
I feel like the “all landlords are evil” narrative is way too simplistic, and that simplistic view turns off people who would otherwise support reasonable limits on landlords and housing ownership. Like, it’s obvious that we need limits and taxes on people who own multiple properties, and it’s obvious that there are companies that exploit renters and drive up prices, but it’s all more complicated than just “landlords evil lol”.
Out of curiosity, have you been a moderator before?
It’s a fairly thankless job that you volunteer for. Most people aren’t doing it out of some lust for power, they’re just doing their best and sometimes make bad calls.
Are there shitty ones out there? Sure. But many of them are just trying to make nice spaces for their interest.
