Because that guy is Joel Michael Singer, and that’s the only Joel Michael Singer I have ever heard of.
96·20 days agoI wish “use within [x] days of opening” was more consistent on packaging. Knowing that something can sit unopened in my fridge for months is great, but also having an easy reminder that it’s only good for 2 weeks after I open it would be even better.
As someone who recently lived in one for about 8 months, I can tell you that it’s not. But, they don’t require first + last month deposits, no credit checks, no utility accounts, are generally closer to public transport, etc.

I discovered Ventoy a week ago and
it’s fucking amazing. So much time and hassle saved.it seemed amazing, but I had no idea about the security concerns others have pointed out. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
Any tips on finding cheap used ones, other than scrounging eBay and the like?

I purchased my current car used. I plan to purchase my next car used. The new car I bought in 2016 will likely be the last brand new car I ever buy (I know buying used typically makes more sense anyways, but the point still stands).
12·1 month agoAutonomous vehicles are at times both amazingly advanced and bedshittingly idiotic.
I’ve ridden ~25k miles in them for work, and I trust them more than 95% of the drivers on the road. But I’ve also experienced them acting in ways that are still quite far from the way humans would.
McAllen is only 65mi from the ocean; a hurricane would be horrific. It’s not like Texas gets hit by hurricanes a lot, right? Right?

A distant family member of mine was (is) a Marine, and made it to Drill Instructor before the effects of his PTSD from 3 tours and a TBI became too much (ie he basically had a psychotic break) and he medically retired.
After he got out, he and I talked about it one time. He told me that he’d had a lot of trauma growing up and was fairly bigoted when he first went in. But that after a while he couldn’t care less about someone’s sex, gender, race, religion, etc (at least as far as the people who had joined; he admits civilians are still a tough thing for him), because when you’re in the suck, none of that matters. The only thing he cared about is whether the person next to him was properly trained and willing to put their life on the line for him, just like he would for them.
It’s not to piss them off, but to send a message. Just like Putin, he’s going to put the screws to somebody wealthy to send the message “I did it to them, I can do it to you.”
It’s not about the House or the EC, it’s the Senate. 2 more reliably R senators makes things worse
Don’t forget the simple greed from the corps.
