Could you build a wood racecar like they use in the soapbox derby? I saw plans online, the kits are a couple hundred USD, but you might be able to build a cheaper one from scratch…

I had a clear childhood memory of when gravity temporarily vanished and we all had to duck and cover under our desks. Years later I learned how gravity worked. A few years after that I realized my memory was impossible though it felt very real. This may be the root of my trust issues…
I love self checkout. From my decades of cash register experience I can tell you, your soul begins to leave your body standing still for hours doing the same repetitive mindless task. It is not a job most want nor honestly should do. I really can’t fathom the folks who prefer waiting in line for one bored af human to do a task they could easily do themselves. A good company would find other things for their employees to do or (this would never happen) pay them more per hour to work fewer hours totaling the same weekly check. I feel only the elderly, overburdened, and incapable should use a cashier. If you got 2 available, working hands and can twist at the waist - get to scanning!!
The Broken Earth series, Enders game series (the first 5 books about Ender), American Gods, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing and the follow up A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor, The Kingkiller Chronicle (we’ve been waiting 10+ yrs for the final book 3, some folks are pretty irked atp, but it will be ok). If you want YA beach reading, anything by Seanan McGuire / Mira Grant for easy fun books about fairies, cryptids, and zombies.
I have coined the term hifellowkidsing when I struggle and fail to relate to teens. As in “I heard the neighbor kid loudly bumping what sounded like Eminem so I totally hifellowkidsed him and asked whether or not it was. He rolled his eyes and ignored me”. My only comfort is I was a horrible snot at that age, so I have karmically earned every belabored sigh and humiliated grimace.
Thank you, I feel very good about my chances this go around. I’m sober because I’m a better person when I don’t drink. Up until now, I also very purposefully surrounded myself with high risk drinkers, so I knew I would not have any friends going on this journey with me.
Drinking, finally for good I hope! I’m 3.8 years in. I first blacked out at 12 and was drinking liquor regularly by 14 so booze was my way of life. I can’t socialize very well as I am naturally super awkward then never honed my “don’t be super weird” skills, but I’m finally free to live my life how I want!
Those cringe attacks are so real! But very true, if we are so so mindful of our interactions we can’t come off as bad as imagined…
Thank you for your kind words. Logically I know I am not awful as I have friends and try to act with kindness every day. But when you seem to be the common denominator it can be hard not to think you are the reason. I’ve read you aren’t supposed to talk about yourself a lot, that it can be off putting. I try to use approachable body language, actively listen, remember when someone tells me things about themselves, but I am so in my head with social interactions I know I am coming off real weird, like I was raised in a cave. It’ll be ok ; I can always get more dogs to hang out with.
I’m really struggling with this right now. I’ve joined to some new interest groups, but everyone including myself, seems so guarded, every time I leave feeling like I’ve failed a barrage of social aptitude tests. I feel like so many adults have baggage that by 40 they’re spring loaded to overreact and overthink, they come across as unapproachable. Or maybe I’m awful, which is what keeps kicking around in my head.
Wtf is with humanity? We have a couple weird visionaries saying decades to centuries prior “heyo maybe this could lead to that and be world ending” then a handful of rich powerful folks are like yesss thank you for this blueprint.
If it’s available where you are PlutoTV is free and has a Star Trek channel. You don’t get to pick the shows and it’s only original and tng, but you can leave it on for days with almost as much Star Trek as the average fan could want…
For me, outrage at tearing an image implies the subject is beyond reproach and that concept itself is extremely concerning / problematic.
Any individual possessing more than a lifetime’s worth of money. Like after you have $30 million the rest goes into a bucket for everyone else to use. You can re-up from the bucket once you drop below mmmm a 5 year amount of money say $2 million. You can still amass bazillions of dollars, just not kajillions.
Geometric frames of the same size and thickness to make a 3 tiered windchime from upcycled glass!
Didn’t immigration to Israel increase due to persecution of Jewish people? So if there was no Christ / bible leading to Judaism separating from Christianity, we wouldn’t have the resulting anti-semitism that caused Jewish people to return to their biblical homeland and displace the indigenous Palestinians. Honest inquiry.
Edgelords gonna edge. You like something common and popular? Well I don’t because I’m incredibly unique and tragically misunderstood - just like the other thousands of people whose sentiments I echo. Replying makes me a hypocrite, but pondering other’s self-imposed misery is a waste of your time. If we magically exterminated these pesky “x” all that pissy emotion would just transfer to the hot new “y”. Any reason to complain will do. It’s the act itself that releases the cortisol.
There’s no chihuahua sub where we all post numerous daily pictures of our weird little dogs then tell each other in droves how absolutely lovely they are.
Welp the ones who didn’t aren’t posting ; )
