I’d argue there should be a flat out cap on wealth. Nobody should have 500 billion dollars. Not sure what it should be, but somewhere under 500 billion.

It’s about him being a dipshit.

Weird, I can see the comment just fine. It just has a trash can next to it. Using the Sync for Lemmy app.
unironically
… did you notice this is concrete?
People become ultra violent, majority starts killing each other, anyone slightly bad starts doing bad things, most of them get killed by the other people they do bad things to. Total rampage.
Cycle repeats and repeats 100 times. Pacifists / smart people GTFO of town and hide in forest.
On 100th day, cycle stops unexpectedly. Only it stops at night, after the daily rampage is over. Nobody regenerates.
Cycle starts unexpectedly again, every once in a while.
Groundhog Day becomes society’s Russian Roulette.
We tax businesses. We shouldn’t be allowing businesses or churches to influence government. I believe “no taxation without representation” is meant only to be applied to people.
Rust is amazing. I’ve been using it for six years now. Being strict is exactly what you want when building anything more complex than fizzbuzz. It’s just that people aren’t used to it so it makes them uncomfortable enough to not attempt to learn it or see how beneficial it is.
How do they know what qualifies as “encrypted” vs a binary blob that could be a photo or something?
Isn’t the terminal only going to affect performance when it’s displayed in stdout? I’d think a program like find / using pipes would send the data under the hood and all that the terminal would deal with would be the output of the entire command.
That whole post they didn’t even have one sentence that clearly states what theyre doing. I assume it’s “now we’ll make Ecosia one of the default choices”.
AFAIK that would mean ChatGPT and each website (not Firefox) would decide that itself. Firefox doesn’t do it since a website may need it.
It wouldn’t need to be proprietary. The logic could just be “remove everything”. Not sure how the Google Inc thing appeared.
Stripping metadata is up to the website / app, not the OS. Many apps use metadata, some don’t. If they don’t need the metadata and decide to do the right thing, then they’ll strip it.
Also upload my Android photos to Ente Photos and the metadata is preserved (thankfully).
I mean, I 100% agree with this one. If I’m going to be at work eight hours a day, five days a week, I better damn well enjoy it.
I’m a software dev, too, but have always left companies / teams soon after a Lumbergh took over. That was always a very good career move for me, and I am almost always pretty excited to go to work.
Plus, Lumberghs will be there for things you don’t enjoy as well. That would just make it harder, at least for me.
That was my take from the very beginning. I hate that one.
Basically everything is connected in many ways. To be a great cook you need to learn math, history, science, biology, etc.
There are plenty of institutions which allow you to only take courses relevant to your degree, but they are trade schools.
Couldn’t*
What you’re describing sounds like a liberal arts school. That’s kind of the point, at least for undergrad.
Id argue the bigger issue is that money has the ability to influence politics at all. We need to remove it completely.
Why?
