A career is also about building and maintaining professional relationships. Keep in touch with former colleagues. Avoid burning bridges. Carefully choose which hills to die on.

Right. All I remember from the marketing material, even the bespoke website, was an image of a Sentinel. Seeing that was enough for me to avoid all reviews, but I did visit that website a few more times and still had no idea what the movie was about. Saw it opening night. Actually I was a bit disappointed by the premise, seemed very derivative. Still a great movie tho.
My take on it:
Powerful nations almost inevitably sponsor terrorist groups to be a thorn in the side for other nations. These terrorists target civilians to ensure a disproportionate response. There is no end to these conflicts because the primary fighters have no desire to negotiate and are willing to sacrifice any civilians around them as meat shields.
The U.S. does it (Taliban v1, many coups). Israel does it (Hamas). Iran does it (Hamas, Hezbolla and Yemen). Russia does it (Taliban v2, many coups).
Can’t remember hearing about China or India doing it though? But they care about a different part of the world and so I’m not sure I hear about it as much in western media.
I recently had to replace my Mac and was not at all happy with the ridiculous 8GB default. Ended up getting my first Windows machine in 10+ years. Same for my sis, she really wanted a Mac but work was only going to shell out $1500. You can get a helluva Windows machine for $1500 (64GB of RAM and 2TB HD). Sure it may not be “Retina” or have an insane color profile, but like great TVs, most people can’t tell unless they’re right next to a superior one.
Avoid carbs and drink more water.
You’re right. Just sad to see this being the highest rated comment on something that I really didn’t expect to have at all to do with religion.
Wow, top voted reply. Damn Lemmy is cynical. There are many people out there doing God’s work caring for each other for no recognition, no reward. And certainly there are many folks out there too that make things look really bad, and the media loves to tell that story, but don’t for a moment think that that’s every Christian.
Texas has 3000Mw of battery storage with 10000Mw on the way.
Meanwhile in reality:
Texas is 1st in the nation in renewables (thanks Obama).
3000Mw battery storage averted this emergency, and there’s a ton more of that on the way (thanks Biden).
Only some fundamentalists believe that Genesis is literal. And not just Christians.
Hey pretty, don’t you wanna take a ride with me 🎶
In my experience, most of the tech layoffs have been non-devs. PMs and Designers have been the hardest hit and often their roles are being eliminated.
