Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there a good "small web" community here on lemmy/fediverse?English
8·5 months agoI just do a classic search for keywords based on whatever in posting to find the closest match and generally avoid “catchall comms”. For example, if I’m posting an article talking about newly discovered animal behavior, instead of shoving somewhere like [email protected] id put “animal” in the comm search bar and see what comes up which would lead me to [email protected]
Though it works better on lemmy.world than PieFed.world because PieFed isn’t nearly as federated with remote comms as lemmy.world is, so sometimes I go back to lemmy.world or use Lemmyverse.net to look up and then back to PieFed.world to subscribe to it

2·5 months agoAh gotcha, I wasn’t sure because my surface feels so…weird (it doesn’t feel or look like glass or ceramic) so I wasn’t sure if the “magic” was in that or just the way induction worked

41·5 months agoWhich brand was this? On mine, which is a Samsung (so if any brand was going to poorly design it, it’d be them lmao) I have had no issues simmering

241·5 months agoI got one last year, replaced a shitty old school electric coil one.
Similarly, I was kinda skeptical, but in my mind I reasoned it can’t be possibly worse than the shit electric one I had at the time and I’m not going to pay to have a gas line installed sooo I went with it.
It’s the best fucking stove I’ve ever cooked on in my life. By a LONG shot.
I can watch a pot of water boil
Oil is up to temp faster than you can turn around and grab your meat and seasonings
Almost-magic fast temp adjustmentsThe best part? You know those black burned on crud spots(that are most prevalent on glass tops) that you have to scrape off? Non existent. Idk if its unique to Samsung, but it’s surface is fucking dead easy to clean, it never got the burned on crap after a year when I’ve had new stoves in the past develop it in a matter of weeks
It has in some ways, it’s awfully convenient that features that would harm their ability to spread their ideology get neutered or not developed fully. Like making the modlog less useful, neutering the vote system (Lemmy used to have a more robust voting system, until they noticed that it could be used against them) or still not having a proper blocking system in place after 4 years
There’s also the “soft” issues, instance admins not wanting to take the step of defederating with .ml when they do so with grad and hex because they depend on support from dessalines and they fear he would be petty and cut off support with them if they dared to do so (which prob would)
PieFed is an alternative platform in the same social media category of Lemmy, “Forum and link aggregator”.
It’s younger, but is being rapidly developed, esp considering it’s written in mostly python instead of Rust.
Biggest benefit though, is it doesn’t come with toxic political ideologies attached like Lemmy does (https://lemmy.world/post/29072279)
Also why we’re moving to more generic terms like “Threadiverse” instead of “Lemmy-verse”

1·6 months agoThe original comment reply to you was all about how the legal system would act, that’s the primary concern. All it would take is a Trump loyalist judge, a Trump leaning appeals court and the right-wing Supreme Court and boom suddenly the CFAA covers a whole lot more than what was “logical”
