My mama was an elementary school teacher and somehow got a tip that we could ‘work’ at the local Scholastic warehouse over the summer and get paid in credit we could use on anything in the warehouse. My family couldn’t afford for all 3 of us to get more than $10/each to spend at the book fairs, so we were soooo excited to have this opportunity. It was a fucking dream come true - we got so many cool books.

Topic aside, I really dislike “articles” like this and I’ve noticed a lot of them lately. I know it’s well-known at this point that the bar for what passes as journalism these days is depressingly low, but like c’mon. This article is literally just, “Erika Kirk said this thing at this place. Now here’s a few quotes from random Twitter users”.
It feels like a few essays I handed in at school when I did 0 research and spent no effort, and just wanted to turn something in to get the teacher off my ass.
