Waiting patiently for commercial software to be ported to Linux:

• creative suites, I think Canva is working on Affinity for Linux but they want to release their iPad version first. Wine is working right now but there are a few things I’m getting tired of (navigating folders and trying to print). I know, Gimp, Inkscape and Krita.
• 3D modeling software for engineers, like solidworks or NX. I’m trying Blender add-ons for CAD but it’s not as capable. Don’t you dare suggest FreeCAD.
• Music production software, esp. Ableton.

I see. It’s like the people wanting small phones. “We are a market” the twelve of them say repeatedly.

As a mechanical engineer, I have bad news for y’all…

Y’all are allowed to hot glue a Bluetooth keyboard to the back of your phone you know.

Jokes aside, I wonder why there aren’t more protective cases with a built in sliding keyboard for phones. Would be cool.

The minimal phone looks like a brick and I understand why the e-ink is a choice that forces you to not use your phone as much but I’m not ready.

I think Ham radio means hobby and amateur radio, I.e. not professional. Radio is a type of radiation at very long wavelength. From the wiki:

If you’re buying dried beans, get a pressure cooker. It makes cooking dried beans without soaking so much easier and faster. You can also make rice in it same as in a rice cooker, maybe a bit faster.

Electric pressure cookers are cheap on 2nd hand market places because a lot of people are getting rid of the one they got during covid.

I joined around the time Reddit changed their API pricing and killed Apollo (RIP). I hate how Reddit pushes content in their app or new website. I got tired of browsing old.reddit on my phone. I still do occasionally (I.e everyday) but I also stayed here because the memes are actually funny.
