the thing is, normal was always heading in this direction. Capitalism consolidates power into the hands of a few and it keeps consolidating. It will always yield toward more poverty, though for some at home they can wealthier off the exploitation of others.

I get what you mean, but going back to normal will get you right back here in a few years or decades.

I think that the answer is socialism. But for sure, pretty much nobody believes that anyone should have the wealth and power that our capitalists do.

SA is a huge digital nomad hotspot. i haven’t been there, but it’s a favorite of a lot of nomads. They’ve all said that it’s fast, reliable, a bit pricey on housing but you can work around it, and hella fun. I’ve never heard anyone complain about it.

I have so e personal and professional cards that also have a qr code on them. It’s been a good way to not get lost in an address book with a thousand names

I’ve seen people on news and other places saying that they can’t send texts with the word “Epstein,” there was also censorship around Israel and ICE videos as well

for write freely, I found the fediverse observer page for write freely (https://writefreely.fediverse.observer/list). I once came across a huge write freely blog, but can’t find it anymore.

it may also help to search mastodon for #blog and#blogging to find some people and then you can follow them there or on RSS from their main sites.

The earliest order I can see related to my current phone is 2021. I quite like it and changed out the battery this year, so it lasts all day again.

Sometimes the performance slows down and I don’t know if that’s because of poor software updates, but it has a headphone jack and a great DAC. The screen is still in good condition, etc, so I don’t intend to replace it any time soon.

I try to have 3 places in mind for a change of scenery, and if there’s something going on at at least one spot, that can take the pressure off of talking. i try to sit next to the person, like at a bar top, instead of across because that just feels like a job interview or something.

aside from that, engaging conversation. Probe for interest and if they reciprocate, then you can go a bit further until they don’t or you’re making out.

funny thing though, I started planning some of my outings with friends like I was doing a date. Instead of just going to the bar and “yyyyup”-ing for a couple hours, I try to find a shoe or something going on and then change locations to something else interesting. By the end my buds are commenting about how much fun they had.

so plan the date around interesting things or environments, or just something going on or something to look at. Then just have fun and relax.

Also, I read something from one of the old dating sites where they said that a sushi date is 27% more likely to get a second date. All of my sushi dates have gotten second dates.

this was a fun read! I haven’t done much web UI in years, so it was nice to learn about some of the new, nice things that are available. i don’t think I’d remember some of the more advanced stuff though.

I totally didn’t use Apple’s permission system to disable (not crowd strike, something similar) because it was breaking everything. In my hypothetical defense, everyone said that rollout was a disaster.

there is the fb Lite app, which is mainly for places without good Internet. That one is supposed to not do the same kind of tracking as the main app, at least when it’s closed. I can’t say the same for messenger though
