Heat iirc, they changed design with latest Zen cpu models, flipping the layout, which would also translate to x3d models coming to laptops. But it’s just the most expensive models for now nothing really mid rangey

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the story behind this development pattern?
62·6 months agoBoring straight lines; easiest (cheapest) way to add infrastructure (not just roads, think water, sewage etc as well)…it’s all over NA, so why not in a popular tourist destination. Perhaps to attract some foreign investment into housing?
It’s just far from finished. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was too expensive for locals already and not interesting enough for foreigners at whatever the price point is. So there you have whatever the municipality approved already, pushing to have an extended road built with few side roads, since it would be crazy inefficient to do few meters at a time, and once you have the main road, you can easily add onto it.About the curved bit mentioned - likely gonna be more expensive housing where rich folks don’t have to look at the road/neighbours fence but instead their private little pond/lake. The name of the business next road over tells you all you need to know (“Villas Dubai” lmao)

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Can Visa and MasterCard be sued for this censorship debacle?
8·7 months agoOf those currently affected, Valve would probably be the only ones who could potentially take them on with their lawyers. But that would completely depend on the contract they have with Visa/MC. And even if they did have a leg to stand on, where they think Visa/MC is in breach of contract, I doubt we would find out for quite some time, before they get all their legal “ducks in a row”.

Various spices and dried herbs? Get a whole bunch of different ones, perhaps even some premixed from India (though unnecessary, but may be available even in places like Lidl every now and then IIRC)
I always fall back on chicken breast, what most people seem to find bland and dry. Well, you can mix up some spices together, figure out some combinations you like and put them on your protein/vegetable of choice (will work well with olive oil too as another person mentioned). Want it done quick? Chop it up into smaller pieces and throw in a frying pan. Don’t want it oily? Swap it out for butter (just use lower heat) although I prefer sunflower oil.
You’ll probably have few that you eventually always use in combination with others. E.g. my favorite to use are sweet paprika, coriander and turmeric. Turmeric seems kinda crap on its own, but works well with other spices. Coriander doesn’t need much added, if anything and smells good imo and paprika just goes well on lots of various stuff (note that smoked or plain paprika is also very different from sweet kind though)
For general use more or less either of them, or dbzer0 or lemmy.ca or a few others you would have seen in your feed by now.
Localized instances are fine too, not sure if sync is still an issue, but if it is just view scaled, or 24hr or longer view.

News@lemmy.world•B.C. woman detained at U.S. border, sent to Arizona detention facility in chains
12·11 months agohttps://globalnews.ca/news/11080371/canadian-woman-detained-ice-example-immigration-border/
It doesn’t outright say she was doing something illegal. But it does state she was working on her own business, another article mentioned it as well, that she was investing, feel free to use your non-american search engine of choice to find more. And that’s not what TN visa is for. I can imagine it would be easily abused (and likely is) by investing in your own business and sponsoring yourself, if the amount you invested isn’t enough to get you through the threshold for investor visa - which has been increased recently.
Multiple lawyers are quoted suggesting it was not a good idea to do what she did, one of them directly advising her, and hat she wouldn’t have had the same issue at Canada border, that just screams arrogance to me.
I’m not defending what US did here, but it’s like with boycotting US products…oh suddenly shopping in all those big corporation shops in Canada is fine as long as they fuck us over with Canadian products? It’s gotten real quiet about that real quick. Assholes can be on both sides, just different sizes, doesn’t mean you must support either.

News@lemmy.world•B.C. woman detained at U.S. border, sent to Arizona detention facility in chains
17·11 months agoI wouldn’t want that to happen to anyone it’s bullshit, and this is getting overzealous, making an example of someone. If you read all the details in the articles about this though, it appears that she was doing something borderline or outright illegal to begin with, and I’m finding it difficult to feel sorry for her in this instance.
She was advised by a lawyer not to cross the border the way she did and at the place where she did it, and she ignored that advice. She was on TN visa which was revoked back in November, yet she was supposedly investing in a startup? Wouldn’t that mean you should seek E2 or similar visa, what could have flagged her for the cancellation her original TN one?
I feel more sorry for the hiker from Germany, even if she may have been trying to stay with her boyfriend or whatever, as far as evidence suggests, at least she did more or less everything by the book and had appropriate visa and documents that wouldn’t have otherwise caused her any issues.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some good exercises or resources for trying to improve physical fitness with multiple limb injuries?
2·1 year agoI’d second swimming or in general doing stuff in water. The difficult part will be to find a place to do that which can accommodate your particular needs, i.e. if you don’t wanna actually swim, does the pool have area for that, is it not full of kids (not just kids) who won’t pay any attention to you and potentially hurt you while playing

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats your favorite non-dairy milk substitute beverage?
1·1 year agoI don’t know whether anything changed or it’s down to brand but I have no issues baking strudels and other pastry with similar dough from soy milk, including doing some simple buns from dry yeast, but obviously that lacked the sourdough taste, which I’d like to try replicate with use of some acids next (e.g. vinegar). Don’t really do much else though, so can’t confirm for other uses.
We specifically buy Kirkland brand (cheapest alternative) and more recently actually started grabbing the vanilla soy milk from US instead of local. I used to hate sweetened soy milk some 5+years ago, but this is somehow different. And it works great for crepes as well - actually better than regular milk IMO.

12·1 year agoLmao…now if Honda or whichever Japanese manufacturer is still regularly pushing these out came out and sued, I’d be more inclined to think they have some weight behind the accusation because I’m sure I’ve seen something similar before. 111·1 year agoIf actual scientists were in charge, and maybe had some ideas that they weren’t certain would work but sounded promising, which could be theoretically tested with AI - there would be hope.
But none of these fuckers would allow anyone with more than half a brain cell near it, because “investment and growth and blablabla”Then again, we could just do that with existing supercomputers and all these power hungry AI crap companies’ resources (I’m sure some supercomputers do get used for the modelling already)…instead of whatever the fuck they’re trying to do now.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is the legal situation of piracy in Slovenia?
7·1 year agoMore of a generic answer as I don’t know the situation there, so hopefully someone local will come around and chime in.
Unfortunately we live in a world where it doesn’t take much money for the movie/music industry corporations to sway the politicians in any country.
So what may be legal today, could very well not be a week, month or year from now and you’d want to stay on top of news like that.
As a general rule of thumb, I’d suggest using a solid VPN, if you’re uncertain about the consequences. I switched Mullvad (would I recommend it? Sure, but only if you’re ready to actually pay for it) and used to use Nordvpn (it’s ok, seems to have become bloated, but sometimes with cashback deals it’s essentially free) and there are plenty more out there depending on your level of comfort in quality of service they actually provide.
Now if someone can confirm what the situation is actually like, it could be anything from “I’m gonna need a n-th NAS with xxx TB capacity to seed all this” through “oh no, another email from my ISP, I need to setup a filter to send these to trash directly” to “who’s that knocking on my door at this time of the day”. In the end it all comes down to your appetite for risk.
Pffsh there’s literally Johnny 5s head on ceiling while somebody making a very vague comparison
Alrighty then, just need to wait for fucking novideo stock to get back to what I bought it at and I’ll dump and switch (don’t have anything spare to play around with sadly)
I hear you though, I also had(have?) similar physical effect on things like toys as a kid or some electronics since then…just brake shit randomly without trying, especially if I don’t own it.
