Creepypastas, movies, romhacks, etc
Offline, probably anything by Wildbow. On the internet, where he’s more well-known and I have to get more obscure, “the korean comic” has always stuck in my memory.
I would link it, but I’d rather make people google. There should be a barrier to entry of some sort, it could give literal heart attacks.
Just read that one. After all those earnings, I was expecting much worse, tbh. Then again, I prefer more grounded/realistic ones. Or at least less obvious stuff. One of my first experiences with reddit was with the nosleep sub. Being a newb and not knowing that was all fiction made it all even better. Simple stuff like the park ranger stories with stairs in the middle of the forest and shit. Good stuff
Ah, for that stuff I like MrBallen on youtube. He’s far from obscure though, sitting in the millions of subs. His delivery is great though, I actually put him on before bed sometimes. lol
Sounds good! Will check it out, thanks ^^
Are you talking about the Bongcheon-Dong Ghost?
Yep, that’s the one. That shit was nasty back in the day. Probably doesn’t hit quite so hard anymore, things like Amnesia and FNAF exist now.
As much as I like the SCP Foundation, I really wish that it was The Holders that took off instead.
In any city, in any country, there’s a mental institution or halfway house you can try any of these in. There were 2538 of these Objects, but 2000 were lost.
The remaining 538 must never come together. Ever.
Ironically, because the old site was lost to history/the wayback machine; and the only wikias I’ve found that bind these stories only have up to #538, if that, now there really are 2000 missing Objects.
The Holders were so amazing. They directly inspired my series/dnd campaign’s 99 Blessings of the Hundred Days of Night.
The way that the Holders series was written was far scarier imho because of the fact you could supposedly actually go hunting for them.
I always felt like you could have a monster-of-the-month kind of table revolving around some of the more nightmarish Objects; some kind of high fantasy iteration of the Foundation or the Bureau that’s trying to secure these objects to keep them from falling into the hands of civilians and all that
A lot of why I liked it is you also didn’t need super-deep knowledge of esoteric terminology, like while I appreciate the hard roleplay of the Foundation, there’s a point where the redactions get to be a bit much, and you start feeling like “you made that word up.” There’s something that feels a whole lot forbidden about the Holders by nature of it always feels like you’re reading the journals of the deranged regarding these Objects.
i’ve never heard of the holders before, where can i find it?
I had the old site pulled up on the wayback machine a couple days ago but it’s being finicky about being found again; so here’s the link to the most complete Wikia I’ve found binding them together.
nice, thanks! i’ve had a rough day so when i get home i’m getting into bed and reading all i can on the wiki
Anything Nexpo makes a video about
BEN Drowned
Must-read for Zelda fans
Ben drowned definitely isn’t obscure lol
It’s obscure in the larger scope of horror media. It’s not obscure to a cult following of gamers who know about horror rom hack type things, but if you ask somebody who likes Jordan Peele horror flicks if they know Ben drowned there’s not going to be a big link, and same goes for asking the average Call of Duty gamer if they know Ben Drowned its unlikely to be a resounding “duh”.
Literally search creepypasta, (which is pretty well known as a genre of horror to the point sci-fi channel made channel zero) and Ben drowned is top 5 most well known besides Jeff the killer, smile dog, slenderman (if you even count him as creepypasta which imo he isn’t) and squidwards suicide

i’ve tried hard to get into the first 2 games a couple of times but i’m still not very good at them, any tips? ps2 horror is such a beloved genre for me, silent hill and rule of rose are my favourites.

Mostly it’s an issue with combat. It seems like running away from ghosts really isn’t something you can do but I feel like I waste a lot of film with low-power shots. Although I have to remember that I can recharge the film at save points too.

Gotcha! I’ll keep that in mind next time I give them a try
Fatal Frame fucks, hard
One of the precious few console horror games that feels like it maintains its oppressive, tenebrous atmosphere at all times, even beyond the ending.
Watched Society (1989) on a lark and it was really good
I looooove that movie. What a wild ride.
It is time for your shunting
I can’t wait for my coming out party!
Channel Zero, great antology horror show based on creepypastas
Noroi
Dark skies was horrifying
