Asking for a friend.
It would be easier to do the opposite. Remember that the Earth is a moving object, so it would be like firing an arrow at a moving target. You would also need to be on the side of the asteroid that faces away from the Earth, which is another hurdle because you’d have to zip around said asteroid, which is another moving object. Finally, I imagine the nuke would have to work in space.
Hypothetically, the easier alternative would be to blow up an asteroid in such a way that the pieces feel compelled to fall onto Russia.
What
What what?
Yes!
God, I hope so
Get it out of your head, son.
Consider the complexity of getting this right:
Small clarification, it was Abubis who sent the asteroid to earth, no Apophis
It would be easier to drop a moderately small artificial asteroid with heat proofing from near the moon.
Why try to redirect a natural one?
Just hitch a ride up to it, it’ll be easier that way.
