American sports fans literally don’t know any other chants besides “Let’s go (Team Name)! clap clap clapclapclap” for domestic games, or “U-S-A! U-S-A!” for international ones.
Gotta give credit to the Nashville Predators fans, they have some decent chants, at least by north american standards. If a goalie let’s in a weak goal, they’ll chant
"MURRAY, MURRAY, MURRAY
YOU SUCK
ITS ALL YOUR FAULT, ITS ALL YOUR FAULT"
They chanted that at the (then) Penguins goalie Matt Murray in a Stanley cup finals game.
Fair enough. I do love me a hockey crowd. I just wanted you to know you guys stole those jeers from the Fort Wayne Komets, whose fans most definitely certainly came up with them all on our own.
Sorry, my original reply came across a bit rude IMO.
That’s awesome though, I wish more crowds would have better chants than “lets go team” etc haha. I see they’re the Oilers ECHL affiliate, that’s pretty cool, the Oilers are my 2nd team after the Habs. Living in northern Canada, I can’t see even minor league hockey so I’m jealous!
That’s just what I was thinking. Two OU fans can meet each other anywhere in the world and one can say “Texas,” and the other will say “Sucks,” without missing a single beat. The whole thing is a call and response between each half of the stadium:
A- “Boomer”
B- “Sooner”
A- “Texas”
B- “Sucks”
Pretty coordinated for a bunch of blind-drunk undergrads. That’s just the first thing that came to mind, I’m sure many other teams have more elaborate chants
“Boomer” “Sooner” is an acceptable form of greeting in many parts of the state.
Now, the best tradition is the flag run. I got to be on the side that ran at OU Texas one year. Imagine - 80 thousand people watching while you have a big blue Oklahoma flag draped around you like a cape - knowing that in just a second you are going to haul ass like a madman, have to quickly turn around, pivot and then make her wave.
I hate both Oklahoma and football, but that was fun.
Haha, I agree with you on the last point, but their passion for their teams (let’s not forget OSU, though many OU fans wish we could) is something else. My SO is a huge OU fan, and though I don’t quite ‘get’ the love for football, it’s cool to learn about all their traditions. The Sooner Schooner being my favorite
Some of our fan bases suck, some don’t. My cities football stadium will join together to sing the Eagles fight song. They even did it at the superbowel. Chief fans wasnt shit.
It’s like US soccer chants vs UK football chants
USA: “I believe we’re gonna win!”
UK: “YOU SUCK YOUR MUM AND FINGER YOUR SISTER”
“Yer mum’s yer dad, Yer dad’s yer mum, Yer interbred, You Millwall scum”
American sports fans literally don’t know any other chants besides “Let’s go (Team Name)! clap clap clapclapclap” for domestic games, or “U-S-A! U-S-A!” for international ones.
We save our creativity and passion for the inevitable knife fight that turns into a gun fight in the parking lot after the game
With Lil’ Jon playing in the background.
YEEAYUH

Hate to break it to ya but those aren’t unique to Preds fans
I’m well aware, that’s just the first that came to mind for me.

Unless you go to college sports games. They get really creative.

Meanwhile in Eastern Europe: A STREAM OF PURE UNADULTERATED NATIONALISTIC SLURS
Balkan: let’s burn the stadium every match.
The average Latinoamerican: “Escuchen…”
