FYI to Lemmy non-Christian’s: Paula White is an incredibly controversial figure in the evangelical community. Specifically, many believe her to be perpetuating fraud by demanding money from her followers in exchange for specific acts of prosperity provided by God (and even to ask God to smite your enemies). This differs from traditional tithing which typically is used for salaries, services (keeping the lights on), and community outreach.

Why evangelicals can’t point to her malfeasance as evidence of Trump’s corruption is a mystery to me. Additionally many conservative Christians don’t believe women should be in a position of authority, citing the same scripture she is here as evidence. If she were morally consistent she’d quit her “ministry” and go home.

Sounds like the Prosperity Gospel to me.

This was the first thought I had when I read the headline.

John Brown wasn’t fraudulent and he was certainly evangelical. Though I guess this is the difference between big E modern Evangelicals and little e old school evangelicals

Also as a quick aside my phone keeps trying to auto correct evangelical to Evangelion, I haven’t even watched it. All I know about it is “Crank that Soulja Boy Shinji”
