It’s surprising that a country where there are more guns than people, due to the well known quirk of literally writing into the constitution that the people should be armed in order to stop government tyranny, it sure is enduring a lot of government tyranny.

America is being destroyed at record pace and “the land of the brave” have done very little so far to stop it.
The Iraq war 2 protests had record numbers but it still happened. Protest needs to either be sustained over a period of time or combined with other actions. So far, No Kings hasn’t done that and it’s therefore achieved nothing.
There have been more and more protests, and the suze of the turn out grows each time. The nyc mayoral primary has also show a massive shift in voting priorities that has the potential to drastically shift politics in the country permanently. People are doing things, we just have to keep on doing them until something works. Dictators have ruled the majority of the populations of Earth for a very long time for a reason. They have the advantage.
I’m not denying some people are doing things. But not enough. Not nearly enough. Trump’s approval ratings are still in the mid to high 40s ffs.
That excuse might fly in most countries, but not in one specifically designed to resist turning into a dictatorship. One that has spent its history going around the world telling (and violently forcing) other countries how to run their country. One that has very loudly, very vocally, decried dictatorships and puffed up it’s chest declaring it to be the pinnacle of democracy, liberty, and freedom. Constantly, loudly, saying that all those school shootings are just unfortunate collateral damage because the population requires guns to resist tyranny. Where’s these checks and balances we always hear about? Where’s the resistance to tyranny? Where is the land of the brave and the home of the free?
Too many Americans don’t care, they only want money or their bread and circuses. Politics be damned. Convince those greedy, selfish, lazy fucks to care or risk being doomed to dictatorship for a very long time.
My comment, obviously, doesn’t encompass all Americans. I’m not xenophobic. But it does encompass a large enough percentage that a well documented fascist dictatorship is being allowed to happen. One where the dictator said he would be one on day one, and he was still voted for. One where the plan was published online for all to read in advance, and nothing was done.
No Kings was huge, but then it fizzled out. And each day that passes allows the Republicans a stronger and stronger hold, as they arrest and deport those who may create resistance.

If you go home after one day then you achieve nothing. I know there’s a huge wealth gap in America but there’s still huge swathes of suburbia who can survive without income for a while. That word “may” is the weak point of the argument. In contrast, a family will not exist if they don’t eat.
The fact is money is like oxygen it’s how we sustain our lives. You may be familiar with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, basic needs (the kind that money provides) are at the very base of the pyramid, the most important. This Nazi takeover falls under the very next category, “safety and security” and it also effects some other tiers up top as well. So to be clear, I’m recognizing the importance of this issue, it’s extremely important without a doubt. But the basic needs are still the basic needs.
With that in mind, I absolutely defend and support the strategy of participating in activism on the weekend and then going back to work on Monday. That is nothing but rational.

This is just naive. Building something important takes time. You know that expression, Rome wasn’t built in a day? Well that’s barely even a metaphor here; if you want to build a new United States, a more functional, less corrupt US without all the fascism and corporate control, well that takes time. And again, in that time it takes to make those changes, you need to continue living, continue filling those basic needs.
I went to the no kings protest and honestly I think it was quite successful. It was a show of force, a demonstration of pure numbers. It was a good step, and more will be achieved.

Legally, theoretically just barely maybe, if you have the best lawyers in the country, untill it makes it out of the state court system, or you just encounter any judge with a hardon for LE, which is 99% of them, then no, no you’re going to prison forever.
Go look up how often a random civillian is able to legally win a case where they shoot and kill a cop who is clearly and obviously acting illegally.
Pretty much never happens.
But beyond that, is lethal self defense in this situation practically, realistically, even survivable?

That was uh, an armored personnel carrier, an extraction team of 6 guys, screened by a perimeter security detail of about double that… and all of those guys were in full military style body armor, lots of ammo, real assault rifles, not crowd control gear.
You would unironically need RPGs, Heisenberg’s jerry rigged machine gun auto turret, ieds/landmines, and your own full military gear, and probably at least 4 other people in full military gear… to actually stand a chance at surviving just the immediate encounter, and then you’d have to somehow vanish without a trace, amd escape to a country without an extradition treaty with the US.
This is Baghdad/Mosul/Fallujah style military raid tactics and equipment… while the city of LA broadly is being occupied and pacified with similar Iraq War 2 style doctrine and equipment.
The only way you could even stand a chance at ‘resisting unlawful lethal force with lethal self defense’ is you and the gang become the Viet Cong.
Really, I get the sentiment, but uh, no, actually applying your idea here is wildly unrealistic, unless you’re ready to quite literally start an armed resistance movement.
