  • NOT that I support everything the Israeli government has done, and honestly the whole thing is a clusterfuck of epic proportions if we’re being honest. But, there’s a reason Israel has the area blockaded and controlled in the first place (or as you put it, has a boot on their neck) - Hamas’ goal is the eradication of the Jewish state and Jewish life and culture in the region. They hate Jews, pure and simple. At best, any Jews they might allow to stay if they had their way, would live under strict Islamic control like in other parts of the middle east. If I lived in Israel, I could be the most left-wing person you’d meet and I still wouldn’t advocate for the suicide of my people, because I’m not insane.

Hamas does not share western leftist’s and liberal’s sense of justice or fairness. They are a militant Islamist terror organization. “Leaving them alone” and hoping they chill is a fantasy.

  • I never said one should refuse texting, I said one shouldn’t refuse calling. And as for my technological aptitude, I think I do quite well. But go off.

I mean, I’m not a programmer or anything like that but I can be comfortable with just about any OS you put in front of me with minimal time to familiarize - though admittedly I’m most comfortable with any of numerous flavours of Linux desktop/Android, and least enthused about using Windows. I 've got a lot of practice problem-solving though nowadays that seems to be less and less frequent.

I’m not great at touch typing as I have a tremor, but thankfully I have friends who know they can text me but I’m likely to call them back if I need to reply in any depth. On a physical keyboard my tremor doesn’t really interfere with my ability to type though; actually I enjoy typing on a physical keyboard and recently upgraded to a Thinkpad so it’s been better than ever.

I do occasionally use scrpy so I can type on my phone from my laptop, but that’s only practical at home obviously.

edit: Also, I’m kind of laughing to myself at the thought anyone could think a friggin trans woman on the fediverse could possibly be inept with technology :P

  • You’re absolutely correct that a person doesn’t need to be a “manly man” or a “girly girl”. But you’re confusing gender expression for gender identity. Neither my sister or I are particularily feminine, at least not in most stereotypical ways. She’s cis. I’m trans. I sure as hell haven’t gone through the journey of transition just because I wanted to enjoy a certain activity or wear a certain type of clothes. I could’ve done that before and still gotten less hate. Sure as hell getting sick of people telling me I’m confused (first in my life for being bi, later for being trans - same chapter in the bigots’ playbook really) when they can’t even grasp simple concepts because they don’t apply to them. Is it lack of empathy? Inability to trust that other people understand themselves even if you don’t understand them? Or is it just being fucking stupid?
